Sadly ,on November 11 2025 ,Lena died. Lena was married to John James and they were together for 33 years.
They first met at a recording session in 1988. Lena grew up in Edinburgh singing with her sisters. Then with teenage friends at folk clubs in and around the city including the famous Howff in the High St. with Ray and Archie Fisher, Hamish Imlach, and a teenage Bert Jansch. In later years Lena was involved with folk clubs around the Milton Keynes area including the Hogsty in Aspley Guise. Her grandfather was the composer of 'Soft lowland tongue of the Borders' a song often taken for traditional. Lena though a skilled poet, painter and sculptor, throughout her life she never stopped singing. Audience's found her singing at John's concerts a delight and were enthralled by her sweet tone and harmonies.
